The Martin crew is currently digesting a lovely (and hopefully turbulence-friendly) meal at one of the Sydney Airport Bistros while waiting for our 10:30pm flight (a mere 3.5 hours away). We are sporting an assortment of gadgetry: Hamish (nearly 8) on the iPod, Joshie (2) on the DS, Jenny (more than 21) on the Kindle, and Lily (10) forging her own Luddite path with a Journal and pencil. I've managed to score free wi-fi, so am a happy camper.
I am mildly surprised that the entrances to the Terminal had not been boarded up with the progressively escalating weather warnings over the last 24 hours. It went from rain, wind, gale-force winds, hail, to ultimately a plague of mutant locusts. Certainly, the car trip down the free-way was invigorating (in one of those, 'wow - that truck nearly hit us whilst we were blinded by torrential rain' kind of ways), but it appears that the much-touted front has stormed its way north from here.
All things going well (ie pilot having the right destination plugged into his GPS), we should be touching down in Narita Airport at around 6:30am their time. Until then - sayonara!
